St John's Stoke Guildford

We want children to feel that they are fully part of our church family and we aim therefore to provide opportunities for them to learn about Jesus and about Christian living. We are committed to helping children lead a full and joyful life, surrounded by the love of God, of their parents and of us all.
On the first Sunday of every month at 10.30am there is a Family Service when the children and youth participate in all the action and stay with us right through the service! For all the other 10.30am Sunday services we have 3 children's groups: Scramblers and Explorers and a crèche for very young children. There are activities and teaching in the groups, which are led by experienced members of the congregation.

Just turn up on a Sunday morning,
we look forward to meeting you.

St John’s runs a crèche every Sunday morning (except All Age Worship) where a team of experienced volunteers will happily look after your baby or toddler so you can enjoy the service. All volunteers are fully CRB checked and many are child care professionals outside of Church. Crèche is for babies of any age up to 3years.  Babies and Toddlers go out for crèche at the same time as Sunday Kids until the end of the service. If you would like more information please phone:
Shauna Stanton on 01483 576140  or
Nicki Woodward on 01483 559886.

Toddler St Johns

There is always a very friendly atmosphere and the children have lots of fun running around in the hall, riding trikes, sliding down the slide, playing with cars and trains or sitting quietly in the reading corner.

There is a craft table each week where the children can have a go at sticking, painting, making cards.  There is also a baby area with playgyms, toys and bouncy chairs.  At the end of the morning we all move into a smaller room for a sing along which the children love, especially 'Sleeping bunnies', always a firm favourite!!

I have found it a great toddler group for my boys as I have been able to easily watch my eldest enjoying the activities whilst I have been in the baby area with his younger brother.  Tea, coffee and biscuits are served too.  It costs £1.

We are a free children’s club meeting every Monday in term time 6.15pm – 7.30pm in the Church Centre. Everyone in school years
1 – 6 is welcome no matter which school
they attend.

We have lots of fun with craft, snooker, table tennis and table games. In the summer we play outside with footballs, rounders and parachute games. Each evening ends with cake/biscuits and a drink and short Christian message either as story, game or conjuring trick.

We celebrate Pancake Day, Easter, Bonfire night and Christmas together.

Each year we have a Bouncy Castle and BBQ to finish the Summer term.

Holiday Clubs are for all young people in school years 1-6 and are a fantastic way to meet new friends and have lots of fun.

Each Easter we turn the Church into an exciting place of adventure - it could be a desert island, a theatre or a space rocket. There is always the added fun of drama, animals, craft and puppets.

Each Club finishes with a grand Holiday club service on the Sunday at 10.30am with the young people, leaders and puppets running the service!

At St John's Stoke we take the responsibility of looking after young people very seriously.  We seek to protect the young people under our care and those leaders who look after them.

Young People: Within St John's Stoke all young people attending groups must have their parents or guardians complete relevant Consent Forms so leaders can get in contact in case of an emergency. We do this so that we can get your permission for the child under your care to undertake activities organised by the Church.

Leaders: All our regular leaders and helpers of groups are committed members of the church and have submitted both Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Forms and Internal Child Protection Forms before they are allowed to work with our young people.
We also take up two references about each leader to confirm their suitability for this work.

All Consent Forms and Child Protection Forms are available from the Church Office.
