Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day away.
The first evening is a supper event with a three course meal, live music and an introductory talk and is the opportunity for you to explore if the course is for you.

We would love to see you on the next Alpha or Youth Alpha Course.

The Youth Alpha course is being led by Fiona Simon (our curate) with the support of a great youth leadership team. Youth Alpha is for anyone between 11-18 years old and is designed specifically with teenagers in mind with games, film clips, music and fun. The group is split into age related smaller groups for discussions.

The course starts on Wednesday 23rd September, ends 9th December running weekly from 7:15 - 9:15pm. The course will also include a residential weekend away in November which will combine some challenging outdoor activities.

I had never done an Alpha course before, despite being a Christian, and it was a great experience; good debate, thought provoking talks and (importantly to the student mind) top food!
I would thoroughly recommend an Alpha course to anyone thinking about it, Christian or not.

Whether you've been a Christian for years, or have no experience of Christianity at all, it will simply and concisely explain the core truths of the Bible and give you opportunities to find out far more.

I found Alpha to be a very sociable experience – chatting over our weekly meal was a real treat and the atmosphere was always easy.

The Christmas meal was more like a party and probably not what you’d expect in a Church – we had a lot of fun.

Throughout the course I got to know some new faces and got closer to some more familiar ones – it made me feel I belonged a bit more to St John’s Stoke. I had worried that the talks might be a bit too serious or uncomfortable but they were delivered with humour and sensitivity and were inspiring and thought-provoking. I wouldn’t hesitate to invite anyone to the next Alpha course.

I have done The Alpha Course four times now and every time I have learnt and discovered different things.

There is a wonderful sense of community and friendship within the whole Alpha group and you make firm and lasting friendships with the people in your small group as well as getting closer to other members of the church family.

It was during my first Alpha I became a Christian and shortly after I was baptised. Alpha really was the beginning of my new life following God.

I attended Youth Alpha for the first time personally this year to meet new people and just because I'd heard so much positive talk and reviews about the whole event. It was every bit as good as people said it was and I encourage anyone who hasn't attended the event before to do so. You meet new people, make new friends and explore your faith.
